International Motorsport has confirmed that Kiwi racer Matt Whittaker will team up with Johnny Udy in the teams third Audi R8 at the Hampton Downs 500 next weekend.

As it was previously reported that International Motorsport will field three Audi R8 LMS for the 500km GT race at the North Waikato circuit.

Former Supercars endurance driver Matt Halliday and 70-year-old Andrew Bagnall will team up in the team’s latest edition, a current spec-R8 LMS.

Another former A1GP racer Jonny Reid and Neil Foster will pair together in one of the team’s current R8s that they race in the National levels, but today they confirmed Whittaker and Udy will complete their three-car driver lineup.

Whittaker is a well-known name in NZ racing, after racing in the North Island Endurance Series (1 Hour race) and Pirelli New Zealand Porsche Series Championship – winning a few titles in those series in a Porsche 911.

“Good to have Matt Whittaker join us in the third Audi with Johnny Udy for the Hampton Downs 500,” the team said on Facebook.

“Matt has been waiting for this opportunity and will do well even thou he will only get one small test on Wednesday to get to know a completely new type of car but if anyone can do it Matt can.”

“As you will see the Whittakers Audi R8 looks absolutely stunning in Whittakers gold. The team is working hard to have everything ready for next week with 3 Audi R8 Ultra race cars.”
