In a surprise move by Tickford Racing, they were able to get sponsors to “align” and get old-foes to share pit garages again like in their winning year – 2015.
After a strong 2015 season, Tickford Racing management decided to split the leading Ford drivers under “sponsorship clashing” claims to aid pit-lane stacking.
With the rise of young Cameron Waters, and the new rookie Richie Stanaway who brings a lot of hype from his strong endurance campaign last year.
They decided to bring the old band together, having 2015 champion Mark Winterbottom and front runner Chaz Mostert together again in the same pit garage.
That reunion means the 2017 Wilson Security Sandown 500 winners Cam Waters and Richie Stanaway will share the team’s second garage.
“Tickford Racing is excited to announce some lovely news on this Valentine’s Day, as its garage assignments for the 2018 Supercars season will see Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert share a garage again for the first time since 2015,” the team said in a statement.
“Sandown 500 winning duo Cameron Waters and Richie Stanaway will race out of the second of Tickford Racing’s two garages in the 16-event campaign.”
“The move affords the team’s veterans in Winterbottom and Mostert a chance to race alongside each other, while young guns Waters and Stanaway can build on their progressing careers together.”
