Championship leader Scott McLaughlin is set to have a massive blow to his championship challenge as the car has an engine issue before the halfway mark of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
He made a mistake on the second lap gifting the lead the Mostert but recovered well until this engine failure which got reported in the coverage on lap 47.
The team ruled out a header issue during the lap 51 pit stop, but since then the car is back in as the team did a full systems check when they change the engine map as they hope for an improvement.
This is a massive issue for the Kiwi as he holds an 84-point lead heading into today, and Whincup runs 3rd at the moment while Premat is still in the top ten for now.
