New Zealand’s next up and coming young talent Liam Lawson is fundraising to complete his budget to represent New Zealand in the Road to Indy next month.
Lawson got an opportunity to win a $200,000 scholarship to compete in the Road to Indy which all top IndyCar team owners – Roger Penske, Michael Andretti, and Chip Ganassi – all pay attention to this race to see any top young talent that could enter their radar
The Kiwi got this opportunity by winning the New Zealand Formula 1600 Championship last season, he won the majority of the races in that championship.
He went on race in the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship and won over four races onto finished second in that championship.
When he was on Radio Sport a couple of weeks ago, Lawson said he wants to follow the Formula One dream or even look to America with the IndyCar Series as a plan-B goal to become the next Scott Dixon.
However, both paths require huge budgets which Lawson’s scholarship to come in handy to get noticed by the American teams.
The Pukekohe-based Kiwi is now fundraising funds so he can represent New Zealand over in America to start the path to IndyCars where Scott Dixon races.
