Regular Dunlop Super2 racer and the son of a Supercars team owner Macauley Jones will join an expanded two-car Hamilton Motorsport lineup for the BNT V8s support act at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint.
Hamilton Motorsport ran two cars in the very first season of the BNT NZ Touring Cars when Tom Alexander ran his rookie year alongside team owner Lance Hughes.
Hughes downsized the team when Alexander moved to Ken Smith Motorsport when Smith brought the ex-Heimgartner owned Holden SuperTourer.
For the third season of the renamed BNT V8s series, Hamilton Motorsport expanded back to multiple cars as the son of Brad Jones joins as the team’s second driver in the #85 entry.
“Hamilton Motorsport is pleased to announce that Macauley jones from Brad Jones Racing in Australia will be racing our 2nd car number 85 (TLX V8 ) at the Supercar round at Pukekohe, next weekend,” the team wrote on Facebook.
Macauley Jones is coming off a victory in the last Super2 race at Mount Panorama earlier this month where he won the non-championship enduro race with his cousin Andrew Jones finishing on the podium too.
While Hughes is expected to compete in the revamped #84 Hamilton Asphalts entry.
